AMARYLLIS

The Amaryllis is a flower from the Narcissus family. The botanical name of the Amaryllis is Hippeastrum. The flower consists of upright flower stems and is available in different colours such as white, yellow, red, pink or mixed. You can also choose from single-flowered or double-flowered. Amaryllises are beautiful as a decoration inside, but also very nice to give as a gift.

Planting amaryllis

You plant an amaryllis bulb with the bulb 40% above the ground. Make sure that the bulb is in a large pot, so that there is room around the bulb for watering. In addition, it is important not to fill the pot with soil all the way to the top, so that the water cannot run out of the pot. Make sure the soil is moderately moist, neither too wet nor too dry. The Amaryllis flowers at a temperature between 15 and 25 degrees. Do not place the Amaryllises above a radiator, because temperatures that are too high can stop flowering. The great thing about these flowers is that they are very easy to care for. Give them a little water regularly and they will soon start to grow. In addition, it is important that they are not in a draft, as this causes the water to evaporate faster than they absorb it.
