The impressive red crown - Imperial or Kaiser’s crown (Fritillaria imperialis ‘Rubra’) looks like a real crown in your garden! It has one, giant sturdy stem. On top of it are hanging several, big bell-shaped flowers with a big green ‘crown’. This variety stands tall and strong, overseeing its empire of other bulbous plants and field flowers. The sturdy stem of the Fritillaria Rubra grows up to 90-120 cm tall. It deserves a title that is worthy of a monarch, growing in a sunny spot with rich soil. This winter-sturdy Kaiser’s crown is the big cousin of the much smaller type – the snake’s head (Fritillaria meleagris) and is much loved by garden lovers.
